Committed to care
For the generations before us, it was all about common sense - and they made sure to pass it on. Safe food is crucial for our business to thrive. And the way we do business has to ensure jobs for future generations.
Reducing our footprints
The oceans surrounding our coastline provide the perfect conditions for fish and shellfish. No wonder we have clients all over the world. However, the value chain connected to our international presence undoubtedly leaves footprints. It's our responsibility to reduce these footprints as much as possible.

Sustainable stocks
Norway plays a central role when it comes to ensuring sustainable fishing in the northeastern Atlantic. With strict regulations and quotas, the authorities ensure healthy stocks. At Mathias, we make sure that all our products originate from regulated and sustainable populations (ICES and MSC).

The ocean
For as long as we can remember, the ocean has influenced our lives. We grew up by the ocean, fed off the ocean, and eventually made the ocean our living. The wellbeing of the ocean will always be in our interest and we make sure to work with people sharing this mindset.

Food safety and quality control
We are proud to be a part of Norway's seafood industry. Our country is known for its food safety requirements worldwide. Every part of our production chain is monitored and controlled by the government; the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES), the Directorate of Fisheries, and the Ministry of Trade, in addition to Industry and Fisheries.
Certificates
Safe and healthy seafood is our number one priority. We follow strict international standards to ensure quality throughout our production chain.
MSC - Marine Stewardship Council
MSC is an environmental certification used only for wild-caught seafood that can be traced all the way back to an MSC-certified sustainable fishery. These sustainable fisheries only harvest viable populations and ensure that there are healthy populations left in the sea, while also preserving the marine biotopes.
FSSC 22000
An FSSC 22000 certificate is proof of a company's ability to carry out its activities in a way that ensures food safety. The certificate also shows the company has implemented measures to prevent food fraud and external threats. FSSC 22000 is an ISO-based standard recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
Aquaculture Stewardship Council
ASC is an environmental certification for responsibly farmed seafood. It ensures that aquaculture farms meet strict environmental and social guidelines, reducing the impact on surrounding ecosystems and ensuring the well-being of workers and local communities. ASC-certified farms produce seafood sustainably, with minimal harm to the environment.
Global G.A.P.
GLOBALG.A.P. is an internationally recognized certification for sustainable agricultural practices, including aquaculture. It ensures that farms follow strict environmental, social, and animal welfare standards. GlobalGAP-certified farms are committed to minimizing environmental impact, protecting workers' rights, and ensuring animal welfare while maintaining high standards for food safety and traceability.
