Norwegian salted and dried fish have been exported ever since the early 1700s. At the beginning of the 1960s our founder Mathias Bjørge noticed that the Norwegian salted and dried fish truly started to turn heads globally. Mathias knew he had what it takes. He established his business with the lifelong vision of making the world's best salted and dried fish. With the help of his son Karl, he built the factory on their own land in just a few months. It was the summer of 1962 and right at the center of the Norwegian coastline, Mathias Bjørge AS was a reality.
