GlobalGAP and ASC certified - proof of our commitment
It's crucial for us that our seafood is safe and nourishing. Also, the way we do business has to take care of our environment and future generations.
By getting two new certifications, GlobalGAP and ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council), we are even more committed.
Both certifications share a focus on sustainability but address different aspects of responsible seafood production. Global GAP ensures that our aquaculture processes follow strict environmental, social, and animal welfare standards while following high standards of food safety and traceability. ASC focuses specifically on sustainable fish farming and reducing the impact on surrounding ecosystems. ASC-certified farms produce seafood sustainably, with minimal harm to the environment and the species.
- The certifications highlight our commitment to reducing environmental impact. By following strict standards we become even more conscious of our daily operations, explains Henning Bjørge, Quality Manager in Mathias Bjørge.
For consumers, the certifications offer reassurance. Many customers are looking for safe, high-quality products that also have a positive impact on the planet. When choosing seafood from a certified producer, you do just that.
- Our value chain undoubtedly leaves footprints. It's our responsibility to reduce these footprints as much as possible. We believe certifications like GlobalGAP and ASC can help us contribute to a more sustainable future for our industry, says Henning.
