Bjørn Tore found stability in the seafood industry

When Bjørn Tore joined Mathias Bjørge in November 2022, he was ready for a change. After working at the local dairy, he wanted something new.

Seafood turned out to be the right move.

- About 13 years ago, I wrote a CV and job application for my dad so he could apply here. And now I ended up working at Mathias Bjørge as well. He was the one who told me about the opportunity this time, and I'm happy he did.

A place to learn and grow

Bjørn Tore started in the clipfish department, but what he appreciates most is the variety.

- It's exciting to be part of new products and to get the chance to try different tasks. We rotate a lot, and that means you keep learning new things. It keeps the job interesting.

A strong team spirit

For Bjørn Tore, the social side of work is just as important as the tasks themselves.

- The work environment is really good. We stick together, and it's social in production. I like coming in a bit early, grabbing a coffee, and talking with the others before the shift starts. Quite a few of us do that - it's a nice way to meet since we're spread out on the floor during the day, he explains.

Stability for the future

One of the things he values most is the sense of stability.

- It's a safe industry to work in, and you can see the company is thinking long-term. The investment in salmon and the new factory shows that the future looks really promising, he tells us.

Being part of building the new factory is a highlight.

- It's exciting to be involved from the start and grow with it. You don't get that opportunity often.

Balance and life outside of work

Outside of work, Bjørn Tore spends a lot of time training, enjoying the outdoors, and going to music festivals.

- It's important to me to balance work and free time, and it works well here. I can fit in the things I enjoy outside of work.

Looking back at his first two years, Bjørn Tore is both grateful and optimistic.

- I'm proud of the opportunity I've been given here. To be part of a team, to get varied tasks, and to learn new things - it feels good. And I'm excited to see where we'll go as the factory grows.
