- This place helps you make everyday life work
When Petter Christian Kaldhussæter joined Mathias Bjørge back in 2017, it wasn't part of a grand career plan. In fact, it was a little coincidence.
His wife at the time came across a job advertisement, and since Petter was ready for something new, he decided to reach out to learn more about the position.
- I just sent them an email. I was a bit unsure if this kind of work would be possible with my wife's busy work schedule and taking care of our kids, so I wanted to know more. I immediately got invited to an interview, and left with a really good feeling. It was clear to me that they were flexible and accepting the job felt right. It does to this day, he says.
Experience meets everyday life
One of the things Petter appreciates most is how flexible and supportive Mathias Bjørge has been.
- This is a place that helps you make everyday life work. That's not something I take for granted, he says.
Over the years, Petter has been what he calls "a potato", someone who can step into different roles as needed. Mainly, he works in production and operates forklifts, just like in his previous jobs.
- That was important for me - to continue with something I know and enjoy, while still learning new things, he explains.

A steady foundation for growth
For Petter, one of the things that makes Mathias Bjørge stand out in the seafood industry is the willingness to grow and take chances.
- I've worked in this business for a long time, and I know a lot of people in other companies. Many of them are standing still, doing the same old things. Here, it's different. Things are moving forward, and that's exciting.
At the same time, our core products - salted dried fish and crab remain the solid foundation of the company. These are products that are trusted, always in demand, and they give us the strength to grow with salmon while staying true to our traditions.
Looking forward
Right now, we are expanding the factory and renovating other facilities. Petter looks forward to seeing it all come together.
- It will be great when everything is finished. The new facilities are looking really good.
Would he recommend others to apply? Petter doesn't hesitate:
- Go for it. I've never regretted saying yes to this job. After eight years, I'm still here. I think that speaks for itself.
